We are big concentrate fans at Five Seasons Cannabis in White River Junction, Vermont. In fact, we’re such big fans that we celebrate Dab Day annually. Dab Day, aka 710, is recognized on July 10th and highlights all things dabbing. Five Seasons Cannabis will offer amazing weed deals and more when you visit our recreational dispensary this summer.
The Basics of Dabbing
If you’re new to dabbing, we’re here to explain the basics. Dabbing refers to a method used to consume cannabis concentrates. A dab rig, either electronic or traditional, will heat the concentrate to form a vapor. When you inhale the vapor, you’ll feel the effects of the weed. Concentrates have a high potency, with effects occurring quickly when dabbing. Many of the concentrates found at Five Seasons Cannabis have THC amounts of 55% or higher.
The way you dab will depend on the type of rig you’re using and your personal preferences. With a traditional dab rig, you heat the quartz banger with a torch. After a cooling period, you drop in a “dab” of concentrate and then inhale the vapor through the water pipe. An electronic dab rig or e-rig takes the guesswork out of controlling the temperature. Low temperatures have a lower intensity than higher temperatures but offer smoother hits.
What is 710?
710 can be traced back to the early 2010s when rapper Taskrok suggested adding Dab Day to the calendar as another cannabis holiday. He would further spread the word by releasing songs like “7:10” and “Boil That Oil.” The 710 date was chosen since the numbers resembled the word “oil” when read upside down. An “LA Weekly” piece also brought mainstream attention to the holiday.
The Ins and Outs of Concentrates
Five Seasons Cannabis partners with local Vermont concentrate producers to provide the best quality concentrates in the region. Although our inventory changes regularly, here are a few types you may come across at our dispensary:
- Kief: Kief comes from the cannabis plant’s trichomes. As the trichomes break off, a powdery substance is formed. The kief is sprinkled over the flower or pressed into hash.
- Batters: Also called budders, batters are made through solvents, typically butane hash oil extraction. After extraction, the mixture is whipped to make it malleable.
- Sugars: Sugars use solvents in processing and rely on butane or propane to remove the cannabinoids. Sugars have a semi-solid appearance, and crystals will appear in the formulation.
- Live rosins: These concentrates come from fresh flower that are flash-frozen to lock in flavors and terpenes. Live resins don’t use solvents to separate the cannabinoids.
- Bubble hash: Bubble hash doesn’t use solvents, and the trichomes are separated from the plant through an ice water and agitation process. Lighter-colored bubble hash has a higher purity than darker-tan versions.
- Sauces: With an oil-like texture, sauces have high terpenes and strong flavor profiles.
